A study was conducted by the Centre for Paediatric Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Institute of Child Health, London to research the use of elective caesarean section in HIV positive women. It was found that irrespective of the mode of delivery (vaginal or caesarean), HIV positive women stood a higher chance of suffering from post birth complications.
