HPV stands for Human Papilloma Virus. Most strains of this virus cause ordinary skin warts. Some even develop in the genital area and transmit the virus during sex. There is a chance of the mother passing on her HPV infection (genital warts) to her baby during or after pregnancy. Infected babies may develop warts in their genital area or in some rare cases, around the throat.
