While too much caffeine causes higher heart rate and blood pressure in mothers, in foetuses it tends to get accumulated as they are not able to break it down as quickly as adults. This can lead to the baby having a higher heart rate. Also it causes lesser calcium and iron to get absorbed leading to other development problems.
