A study was conducted by Liggins Institute, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand to determine if adult behaviour and lifestyle tendencies could have a prenatal link. Their experiment with rats suggests that female rats that were undernourished during pregnancy gave birth to offspring that tended to be less active even after being exposed to a healthy diet after birth as compared to rats that were exposed to healthy diets during pregnancy.
