It is an ovarian cyst that contains fluid and blood from a ruptured small blood vessel on the cyst wall. It is also called a blood cyst or haematocele or hematocyst. This bleeding can occur rapidly and fill the cyst causing abdominal pain. It may be complicated by a rupture and the blood contained in the cyst is spreading in the abdominal cavity
