Folate is the name of the water soluble Vitamin B9. Its synthetic form is known as folic acid. Folic acid is more readily absorbed by the body than folate. Folate occurs naturally in spinach, oranges, legumes and whole grains. Folic acid is available as dietary supplements and fortified foods.
