The uterus is a hollow organ located in the pelvis with a virtual cavity. At its lower end, the uterus communicates with the vagina through the cervix, at its upper end, it is connected to the left and right with the fallopian tubes. It operates under the control of hormones. The fetus develops within the uterus thought pregnancy.
