Most obstetricians will recommend that women start strenuous exercises around 6 weeks after delivery. But women who exercised almost until delivery can start as soon as they feel ready. It is only a question of personal comfort and physical capability. It is recommended that new mothers start by slowly taking their baby out for walks in a pram and then move on to something more strenuous.
