There are 3 layers of tissue covering the spermatic cord:
- External spermatic fascia, an extension of the innominate fascia covering the fascia of external oblique muscle
- Cremaster muscle and fascia formed from an extension of the internal oblique muscle and fascia
- Internal spermatic fascia, continuous with the transverse fascia
